Privacy Policy
CoralKeep (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is an offline-first reef aquarium journal for iPhone. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is used.
Summary
- We do not require an account to use CoralKeep.
- Your tanks, logs, photos, and voice memos are stored on your device unless you choose to export or share them.
- We do not operate our own cloud sync service for your reef data.
- Optional in-app purchases are processed by Apple; we do not receive your payment card details.
Information you provide in the app
Depending on how you use CoralKeep, the app may store locally on your device:
- Tank names, volumes, profiles, and cover photos
- Livestock and equipment records with photos and notes
- Water test results, maintenance logs, and optional voice memos
- Reminders, parameter targets, and app preferences (such as temperature units)
- Tide Credits balance (virtual currency used inside the app)
You can delete all app data at any time from the keeper menu using Clear All Data. This removes local records and media created by the app on that device.
Device permissions
CoralKeep may request the following permissions only when a feature needs them:
- Camera — to capture tank, livestock, equipment, and log photos.
- Photo Library — to choose existing images and to save exported tank posters.
- Microphone — to record optional voice notes on logs.
- Notifications — to deliver local tank reminders you configure.
You can change or revoke permissions in iOS Settings at any time.
In-app purchases
CoralKeep offers optional consumable Tide Credits through Apple’s In-App Purchase system. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID and handled by Apple. We receive purchase confirmation from Apple to credit coins in the app. Tide Credits have no cash value, are non-transferable, and cannot be redeemed outside CoralKeep.
App Tracking Transparency
On supported iOS versions, the app may ask whether you allow tracking across other companies’ apps and websites. If you decline, CoralKeep continues to work. We do not sell your personal information.
Data sharing
We do not sell your reef journal data. Information may leave your device only when you:
- Export a PDF report, CSV file, or image and share it through iOS
- Save a poster to your photo library
- Complete an in-app purchase through Apple
Children’s privacy
CoralKeep is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
Data is stored in the app’s sandbox on your device. Please use a device passcode and keep iOS updated to help protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
